MD joins Cayuga Medical Center’s
experienced team of sports medicine specialists
20, 2009 (Ithaca, NY) – Cayuga Medical Center welcomes Jake D. Veigel, MD, specializing in sports medicine to the office
of Andrew Getzin, MD at the sports medicine and
athletic performance program at Island Health Center.
Veigel earned his medical degree from the Medical College
of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He completed his family medicine residency
at the McKay-Dee Hospital
in Ogden, UT
and his Fellowship at the University
of Massachusetts in Fitchburg, MA.
Dr. Veigel has
experience treating athletes in all levels of sport from recreational and high
school, to collegiate and professional. He specializes in maximizing
non-surgical treatment plans.
John Winslow, DPT, director of the
Cayuga Medical Center Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine and Athletic
Performance program, noted: “Our program
puts people at the center of an experienced, multidisciplinary care team with
the most diverse group of medical specialists, physical therapists and athletic
trainers in the region. The addition of Dr. Veigel
further enhances the care now available to our community.” The Cayuga Medical Center Sports Medicine and
Athletic Performance program is most
comprehensive, while the Physical Therapy program for years, has been the largest and most
specialized in the region.
